Narita Drum Festival continued

This video shows some of the drumming groups around the town, before the parade started.

This video shows scenes from the parade, including the wrestling drummers (from 58s to 1min36) and the Okinawan style drummers (at the end).

This video shows scenes from the last half of the parade including the final steel drum group (from 18s to the end). If you like these steel drummers, then you're absolutely going to love the steel drumming performance on Mountaincat's blog - I especially appreciated the music from 'My Neighbour Totoro' from 5 minutes until the end!

This final video shows a very lively and happy group of drumming teenagers - absolutely fantastic!

Nice videos. In 3rd video could see some samba style drumming and I absolutely love sound of steel drums. Feels refreshing and cheerful. Are they being pulled around in truck or on some kind of platform ?

Ah, are they called samba drums at the start? It was an interesting sound, and they seemed to be doing something inside the drum to make the sound...?

Yes, the steel drummers were on a truck - it really did make you feel even more cheerful!

Not samba drums. I think I saw those performers before in samba carnival.

Metal of steel pan have different thickness inside. Thicker area will give lower sound, more stretched metal – higher sound. Not 100% sure, but seems they can play whole octave (including sharps) with one steel pan.
